PURPOSE: The purpose of this demo lesson is to assess your overall ability to plan and execute a successful lesson based on your previous experience and the strategies practiced and/or demonstrated this week in VTA. Below, we have provided some guidelines to help you create and plan your demo lesson.

EXPECTATIONS: Please make sure that your demo lesson covers a subject related to your degree or certification area and is designed for secondary students. You can choose the specific grade level based on your preference.

  • Your lesson will be conducted live in a Zoom meeting with PLI Personelle

- Your lesson MUST include student activities and at least 2 engagement strategies to foment student participation

- We are not interested in a teacher-centered lecture without student engagement and participation

  • Your lesson should display your comfort with technology (screen-sharing, using the chat box, sharing external links, etc.).
  • Utilize online resources for dynamic engagement (ie: Nearpod, Blooket, Quizizz, Padlet, Desmos, GeoGebra, Peardeck, Khan Academy, Kahoot, etc.)
  • Your lesson should be relevant to the content area you are applying to teach (which should be your area of study.
  • You will be evaluated on your lesson design, use of technology, and efficacy of communication

By the end of the 10-minute demo, students should be able to display a basic understanding of a key concept selected by the teacher from their specific subject area. Moreover, students should be given the chance to participate in a brief discussion or activity related to the chosen concept.
