Submitting a Video File to Canvas from Your Device

If you’ve recorded a video on your phone, tablet, or computer and need to submit it in Canvas, follow these steps to upload the file directly:

1- Record your video on your device and pay special attention to where it gets saved to, you will need this information later.

2- To submit your file for an assignment, open that assignment in Canvas and look for the submit button.

One place to find that is to open the assignment in the Grades Tab.

3- When you are ready to submit, click Attach File (not Media Comment):

4- Next, click Browse to select your recording from the location it was stored

5- Navigate to wherever your video recordings are captured (often this is the Video Folder or Downloads folder). Select your video for this assignment, click "Open" and that will connect it to your Canvas submission pathway.

6- Once you see the file name next to the Browse button, you are ready to click SAVE and this will

submit your video recording.

7- You are done. Your teacher can now see your submission.

Click here for instructions to upload a Media Comment using the built in recording feature that Canvas offers. Note, this method does not necessarily work for all users and all devices.
