🔍 Why Am I Not Getting Enrolled in Any/Many Courses in Open Jobs?
Â
âś… Factor 1: Already accepted enrollments cause time overlap?
-
With a few exceptions, courses you accept enrollment for cannot overlap, even by a single minute.
- Example: You are already enrolled in District A Math course which ends at 2:05 pm CST and District B Math course starts at 2:00 pm CST the same day, you most likely will not be able to enroll into the District B course.
- There a few exceptions ... some districts allow up to 5–10 minute overlaps to increase flexibility in scheduling. If a course appears to conflict slightly, it possibly has been approved for this exception. This is not very common.
Â
âś… Factor 2: Certifications and States often Determine Fit
Ensure all your certifications are correctly listed and marked as "Verified":
- Log in to PLI Connect
- Go to Profile > Teaching Experience
- Scroll to and expand the Certification section
đź’ˇTip: If you previously selected "No" for reciprocity, switching to "Yes" may increase your interest acceptance.
Â
Â
✅Factor 3: Limited Courses Available Right Now, Why?
-
PLI follows an academic cycle with 2 peak hiring seasons:
- August–September: Start of school year
- December–January: Start of second semester
đź’ˇ Courses still become available during off-peak months, so check Open Jobs frequently.
See PLI Connect: Open Jobs -Year Overview (Teacher Facing) for more details

🎓 Why Am I Seeing Courses Outside My Certifications or Grade Level?
- Because now you should see nearly everything. It doesn't necessarily mean you qualify for everything, but you should be able to see everything.Â
Â
Â
Can I Show Interest In Courses Outside My Certification?
- Yes! It doesn't guarantee you'll get one but yes, you can absolutely show interest.
- If you apply for a course outside your certification:
- You’ll see a confirmation message notifying you of the mismatch and asking you to confirm your request.
- Your request is submitted.
- PLI’s team will manually review your certifications to ensure course specific eligibility before approving.
Â
Â
âť“ I Showed Interest in several courses but was not accepted for any of them yet. What happened?
There are a number of potential reasons for a course enrollment to be filled before your interest could be accepted.
- Certification fit → School flexibility with certification requirements varies from place to place. Some are very rigid and require exact fits.
- Time fit → With so many different school schedules across over 100+ district partners, time overlaps are pretty common
- Reciprocity issue → Some districts embrace the reciprocity path, some do not.
- School preference for Teacher Type → Sometimes schools only want a certain number of teachers from these categories - Domestic, J-1, International and some can be very rigid in what they'll allow
- Course No Longer Available → Another matching teacher was ahead of your request (most common factor)
Â
- âť“If you need clarification of a particular circumstance, please reach out to PLI Support.Â
Â
❌ I've accepted an Enrollment but now need to Cancel, is that allowed?
- Normally, enrollment requests are final so please be sure you can commit when electing to Show Interest.
-
However, if an unforeseen issue arises and there's a special circumstance:
-
Please contact your Pod associated with that school to request a cancellation.

đź’° How Is My Pay Rate Determined?
Your compensation is based on several course and teacher variables:
-
Rates – Compensation is based on key factors to ensure fairness:
- Course Type: Live and asynchronous courses have different rates.
- Frequency: Varies by daily, alternating, weekly, or even monthly meetings.
- Duration: Courses over 60 minutes, including monthly sessions, are paid at a higher rate.
- Customization: Standard courses use PLI curriculum, PLI Canvas, and PLI Zoom. Use of other platforms or materials may increase the rate.
- Specialization: Courses requiring specific certifications may offer higher pay.
- NVTA Certification: Adds a 5% pay bonus to the per-class rate.
đź”– Why Is a Bookmarked Course No Longer Showing?
- You will find only actively available courses in the "All Bookmarked Jobs" section of Open Jobs
- The course is automatically removed from your bookmarks when another teacher is enrolled in the course.
Can I get an update on my Pending Enrollments?
If you have pending enrollments and the class has been staffed, there will be a tag that says "No Longer Available" when you look at the course. This means another teacher was placed in the course.Â
For other pending enrollments, please allow 48-72 hours for a data specialist to respond.Â
