Facilitators are essential to the daily flow and overall success of your PLI virtual classroom. No matter your specific setup, they provide critical in-class support. Below are tips to help you work together effectively and a look at the key ways facilitators can contribute to your classroom.
Note: Here is an email template you can use to reach out to your facilitator for the first time. Feel free to personalize it and change it around however you like: The important part is that you start up that connection with them.
Be Your Eyes
Facilitators have the best vantage point when it comes to your classroom, from individual students to the district. In an in-person situation, they can keep an eye on your students and support them in non-virtual ways. They can similarly help virtually. They also have a good idea of what's going on in your district, in anything from the local culture to when a field day will take place during your instructional time.
Note: It's a good idea to share contact information with your facilitator. It doesn't have to be as personal as your cell number, but a quick way to reach each other outside of the usual spots like Canvas Inbox can benefit you both when you need to share information fast.
Enroll Students / Student Logins
Facilitators have the ability to enroll students in PLI Connect. They are also the ones who students should contact when they lose their login information. Facilitators can pull that information up in PLI Connect as well, and share it safely with the student.

Pull Grades / Attendance
Facilitators don't have the ability to grade. However, they can see the gradebook, and export grades and attendance reports from your Canvas course to share with the school/district. This is another spot where good communication will be important; You can alert them when grades are set to be pulled near the end of the marking period, or get their help in encouraging a student to turn in missing work.
