LinkIt! Pre/Post Tests

Congratulations, you are teaching one or more of our most requested classes! As a result, your course has access to Pre/Post Tests aligned to Common Core State Standards.

Here’s everything you need to know about this new initiative:

Why LinkIt!?

LinkIt! is an assessment management and data analytics platform. We will use the LinkIt! system to administer the pre/post assessments, and the system will provide us with easy-to-use data reporting. The goal is to provide you, our instructors, with the data you need to inform your instructional decisions.

How to deliver your LinkIt! tests

  • Students should:
    • Go to test.linkit.com
    • Enter the provided testing code for the class period  (have this on your screen)
    • Select their name from the list of names
    • Begin taking the test
    • Tutorial:

Verifying your LinkIt Roster

You can now view your pre-loaded roster in Connect! Please verify your roster in Connect 3 days before you  administer your test.

If you are not using PLI's LMS (Learning Management System - PLI Canvas) you will need to associate your roster. Rostering in Connect will now be optional, with the following understanding:

*If the teachers choose to roster, they will see accurate individual growth results in LinkIt.

*If teachers choose not to roster, then the individual student growth results in LinkIt will not be accurate (ie. "Student 1" is not the same student across tests)

*If teachers choose not to roster for the first test, rostering later will inaccurately associate student names to the wrong data from test 1 (unless you roster in Connect using the actual student numbers used in test 1)

*Further clarifying information: Rostering in Connect requires student emails because the LinkIt system requires unique student identifier. Without this, Connect will not b able to replace "Student 1, 2, 3" in LinkIt with actual names.

  • You will do this by clicking on "Student Assessments" > "Click the three-dot menu icon located to the left of your class period." > "Associate to Student Records".
  • A new box will then pop up where you will need to type in your student's name and email address. You will only have to do this the first time you give the assessment in each class.
  • You may see more spaces then you have students, that is okay - you can leave them blank.
  • If your school is adamant that you DO NOT share student names, please use their ID number as their first name to associate the roster.

On the student assessment dashboard, you will also see the date range for each assessment delivery.

  • You MUST administer the assessment in this date range.
  • You will only see the classes that are REQUIRED to take the assessment on this dashboard.
  • If one of your classes is NOT listed on the dashboard, then they do NOT need to take an assessment, please do not submit a ticket about a course that is missing from this dashboard.
  • If you run into issues or need support, please submit a ticket for Curriculum/Canvas/Resources/PD.
  • Important Reminders:
    • Ask your facilitator to test the link on a student device a few days in advance to ensure that the site is not blocked by the district.
    • Remain on screen for the duration of the pre/post test
    • Ensure you have independent work prepared for early finishers and students know what to do when they finish.
    • Check the pre-loaded roster of student names two days before the test by going to test.linkit.com and entering the testing code. If a student is missing from the roster, please submit a ticket, sharing the student’s name and the Canvas course URL. Please allow 24 hours for the roster to be updated.
  • FAQs
    • What should I do if my student clicks on the wrong name?
      • They can close the window and click on the link again.
      • You will need to associate your roster. Our team is working on a solution that will push these associated rosters to the LinkIt system for future tests.
    • How will we know if a student is taking their own test?
      • The facilitator can walk around the room. Student’s names will be displayed at the top of the screen.
      • If you have associated your roster in the dashboard, students will still see student numbers for the time being. Your facilitator can post the list of student names and numbers on the board or you can provide the same on your shared screen.
    • How do I know which students are testing or have finished the test?
      • You are able to monitor the student’s testing process from within the LinkIt system. Follow the directions in this video for more information.
    • How do I help my students understand the purpose of a pretest/post-test so that they don’t stress out?
    • How long will the pretest/post-test take?
      • This varies by content area. ELA and US History tests will take approximately 20-45 minutes to complete. Science and math tests will take 45-60 minutes to complete. The Chemistry test will take over an hour to complete.
    • What should I do if the test site is blocked by the district?
      • Implement Plan B – teach the next lesson in the curriculum. After class, submit a ticket to the solutions team so that your CSS can work with the district to try and get the site unblocked.
    • What should I do if a student doesn’t appear on the roster?
      • You should check the roster 2 days prior to the test. If the student does not appear on the roster, please submit a ticket (ONLY after you have gone through the roster association in Connect as described above), sharing the student’s name and the Canvas course URL.
      • If your roster changes the day of the test, the newly added student will need to take the assessment on a later date, if possible.
    • What do I do if my Code is missing in Connect or LinkIt?
